In May, 2012 we joined Christian Families Today in Newnan, GA. CFT is a non-profit discipleship ministry to individuals and families that utilizes counseling, life coaching, training, and seminars to share the message of "Christ as Life" to the greater South Atlanta area.
My role at CFT is making disciples through counseling, encouraging, and teaching; and helping pastors to develop discipleship strategies in their church. Having been a pastor for many years, God has given me a heart for pastors. There are over a thousand pastors leaving ministry every month. It is my belief that the local church is as healthy as their pastor. I want to encourage pastors to live out of Christ's Life instead of living "for" Christ.
Steve Eden, a pastor in Oklahoma, said if we follow God's plan for ministry, God will fully fund His plans. However, if we are working our plan "for" God, we are going to have to fund it ourselves! This is true for everyone. If we are trying to get our needs met apart from God, we are going to have to "fund" our way. If we are trusting Him for every detail of our life (yes, every detail!), He will meet all of our needs (love, respect, acceptance, peace, joy, worth, etc...).
It is Tess's and my heart to live Christ's life, and for Him to express His life in our choices, our thoughts, and our attitudes. This can only happen when we are trusting Him and resting in His sufficiency. We are only beginners in this process, but it is a process that is like none other!
